After his studies at the Law School of the University of Fribourg, Gerald Virieux obtained a postgraduate degree in Business Law (MBL) from the University of Geneva and then, a few years later, an LL.M. in international arbitration from the University of Miami, Florida.
Gerald began his career in the legal department of a financial company in Geneva. He then completed the two-year traineeship required to take the bar with the law firm Lenz & Staehelin, also in Geneva. He was admitted to the Swiss bar in 2004. During the nine years that followed, Gerald worked as an attorney in Basel in the renowned law firm Vischer.
He joined Bugnion Ballansat Ehrler as a partner in July 2014.
Gerald has extensive experience in advising and representing parties in matters of commercial and business law. Gerald specializes in contract law, private international law, and in the recognition and enforcement of foreign judgments and arbitral awards.
Gerald represents Swiss and foreign clients before state courts and arbitral tribunals alike. He advises his clients in French, English, German and Spanish.
